About this app

Every evening, bakeries, patisseries, cafés, restaurants and groceries across Lebanon close with good food still on the shelf. Loqma is how you take it home for half the price or less.

WHAT IS A SURPRISE BAG
A surprise bag holds what the shop has left at closing: bread, manoushe, pastries, sweets, a cooked meal, fruit and veg. The contents change every day, and that is the point. The price does not: every bag costs no more than half of what the shop itself says the food is worth, and you see both numbers side by side before you reserve.

HOW IT WORKS
1. Open the app and see the bags near you, what kind of food is in them, and when you can collect.
2. Reserve in a tap. You get the shop, the collection window and a four-digit code.
3. Walk over inside the window and show your code at the counter.
4. Pay the shop in cash.

YOU PAY CASH, AT THE SHOP
Nothing is charged in the app and no card is needed. You hand the shop the amount on your screen when you collect, and Loqma adds no fee on top of it.

IN DOLLARS AND IN LIRA
Every bag shows the price in US dollars with the Lebanese lira equivalent underneath. The rate is fixed onto your order the moment you reserve, so the number you were shown is the number you pay.

BUILT FOR LEBANON
• Street addresses do not work here, so every shop comes with a pin on the map, a landmark line, and buttons for Waze and Google Maps.
• Call the shop from the order screen if you are running late.
• Your pickup code is saved on your phone and works with no signal at all.
• Browse by area, from Achrafieh and Hamra to Mar Mikhael, Dbayeh and Jounieh, or simply by what is closest to you.

FIND THE FOOD YOU WANT
List or map, whichever you prefer. Search shops, bags and areas. Filter by collection day, price, kind of shop (bakery, patisserie, café, restaurant, grocery), distance, and the allergens you need to avoid.

LESS FOOD WASTE, MORE MONEY KEPT
Your profile counts the bags you have collected and the money you have kept, month by month and shop by shop. Every bag collected is good food that did not go to waste. There is a CO2e estimate as well, with the whole calculation shown and its source named. It is an estimate, not a measurement.

ALSO IN THE APP
• Rate a bag after you collect it. Your name is never shown with your comment.
• A numbered receipt for every order.
• Free cancellation until an hour before your window opens.
• Follow the shops you like and hear about it when they list again.
• Stamp cards and promo codes, at the shops that run them.
• Ask a friend to collect a bag for you.
• Arabic and English in full, switched inside the app, properly right to left.
• Help from a real person, in the app or on WhatsApp.

Loqma is starting in Beirut and along the coast, and new shops join every week. Collection only: there is no delivery. If you run a bakery, a restaurant or any food shop and end the day with good food left over, list it at loqma.io.
