Manam is a matchmaking app for Tamil families. It is free to use, private by design, and built so that no conversation starts until both sides have chosen it.

HOW IT WORKS

1. Build your profile — family, community, education, work, and what you are looking for in a partner.
2. Browse profiles that fit what you are open to.
3. Send a request to someone you like.
4. A private chat opens only after they accept.

NOBODY MESSAGES YOU UNTIL YOU SAY SO

There is no open inbox and no way to reach you without your agreement. You see who has sent you a request, and you decide. Accept and the chat opens for both of you. Decline and they are simply gone from your list.

YOUR PRIVATE DETAILS STAY PRIVATE

Your mobile number, your email address, your time of birth and your place of birth are never shown to another member. Not on your profile, not after a match, not anywhere. Other members see the details families actually compare — age, community, family, education, work — and nothing that lets them contact you off the app before you want that.

Your photographs are watermarked before anyone else sees them, and are served through links that expire.

HOROSCOPE MATCHING, BUILT IN

Enter your birth date, time and place once. Manam generates your chart — nakshatra, rasi, lagnam and running dasha — and calculates porutham compatibility against any profile you open, with the dosham position shown alongside.

Your birth details are used for the calculation and are never revealed. The other person sees the score, never the chart behind it.

For Muslim and Christian members the horoscope step is skipped entirely, and the app says plainly when a horoscope comparison does not apply rather than showing an empty result.

FIND PEOPLE FROM YOUR OWN COMMUNITY

Filter by religion, community category, caste, sub-caste, kulam or gothram, and marital status. The lists are built for Tamil Nadu, with hundreds of sub-castes and gothrams, and you can type your own if the list does not carry it.

FULLY IN TAMIL, OR IN ENGLISH

Every screen, every field and every message is written in both languages. Switch whenever you like, including halfway through filling in your profile. The Tamil is written, not machine translated.

EVERY PROFILE IS CHECKED

Before a profile goes live, our team reviews it. If someone later changes their community, birth details or photographs, it comes back for review before those changes appear.

FREE, AND STAYING FREE

There is no subscription, no premium tier, nothing behind a paywall, and no advertising anywhere in the app. Every feature is available to everybody from the first day.

IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG

Block or report anyone from inside the chat. Reports reach a person, not a queue. You can delete your account yourself at any time, from inside the app, and your profile, photographs and messages go with it.
