About this app
Memory Notch records a conversation and transcribes it on your phone as it happens. Follow the live transcript, see who is speaking, and keep every note on your phone. Memory Notch has no internet access: recording and transcription happen on your phone, and nothing is uploaded.
START FROM ANYWHERE
• Add the Memory Notch tile to Quick Settings and start recording with one tap.
• Put the Record widget on your home screen, or press and hold the app icon and choose Record.
• While you record, the notification shows the timer and the latest line, with Stop one tap away.
A TRANSCRIPT YOU CAN CHECK
• Live transcription, on your phone.
• Speakers are labelled as they talk: Speaker 1, Speaker 2 (on phones with less memory, right after you press Stop).
• Enhance re-transcribes a saved recording more carefully.
• Tap any line to hear that moment.
YOUR NOTES, YOUR TOOLS
• Every recording is saved as audio and a Markdown note, and shows up in your Library.
• Ask AI sends a note to Claude, ChatGPT or any other app through the Android share sheet. If you send it to a cloud service, that service's data policy applies.
• Share sends the note or the audio to any app you choose.
PRICING
Free to download. Free recordings last up to five minutes, and everything captured is saved. A one-time purchase through Google Play removes the limit for good. No subscription.
REQUIREMENTS
• Android 12 or newer.
• About 1.6 GB of free storage. The speech models come with the install (about 535 MB to download, 786 MB once unpacked), and the app copies them into its own storage once, the first time you open it. The copy takes a minute or two; recording is available when it finishes.
• 8 GB of RAM or more for live transcription. On phones with less memory, Memory Notch records normally and makes the transcript after you press Stop.
WHAT IT DOESN'T DO
• Memory Notch doesn't record phone calls or other apps' audio. Use it for meetings in the room or on speaker.
• No automatic summaries. Speakers are numbered, not named.
PRIVACY
No account, no analytics, no ads. Nothing is uploaded. The purchase goes through the Google Play app, which Google handles.

What’s new
New Vocabulary tab: teach Memory Notch the names and jargon it gets wrong, and it writes them right as you record and when you enhance. Your first two free recordings that run past 5 minutes now keep going to the end. A fresh look, with the recording timer and Stop above the tabs on every screen.
