Hold a film negative up to the light, point your phone at it, and watch it turn into a real photo on screen.
Negative Camera inverts colour and black and white negatives live in the viewfinder. No waiting, no upload, no guessing. What you see through the camera is exactly what gets saved.
TWO WAYS TO WORK
Point and scan. Open the camera, hold the strip against a bright even light such as a window or a laptop screen, and the preview shows the positive as you move. Tap the shutter when the framing looks right.
Convert a photo you already have. If you have already photographed or scanned your negatives, import them from your gallery and correct them just as carefully.
GET THE COLOUR RIGHT, NOT JUST INVERTED
Colour negatives sit on an orange base, so flipping the image is only half the job. Tap the eyedropper, then tap the clear edge of the film, and the app measures that base and cancels it out channel by channel. Colours land where they should instead of drifting orange or blue.
FILM LOOKS TO CHOOSE FROM
• Invert, a clean straight inversion
• C-41, tuned for everyday colour negative film
• Black and white
• Cine, for the warmer, denser motion picture base
• Slide, for positives that need no inversion
• Sepia, Cyanotype and Infrared for something different
FINE TUNING
Exposure, contrast and warmth sliders sit under one button, with a reset when you want to start over. In the import screen you can press and hold to compare the corrected version against the original, so you can see exactly what changed.
Set a default film look in Settings and the camera opens on it every time.
BUILT FOR THE VIEWFINDER
• Freeze the frame to study a shot without holding steady
• Grid overlay for lining up a strip
• Torch, front and back cameras, and a shutter sound you can turn off
• Mirror the front camera, or leave it as the lens sees it
• Everything renders on the GPU, so the preview stays smooth
YOUR SCANS, KEPT PROPERLY
Every scan is saved as a full quality JPEG in Pictures/Negative Camera, where any gallery app can find it. Inside the app there is a grid of everything you have made, a full screen viewer with pinch and double tap zoom, and swiping between shots. Share, delete, or check the size, dimensions and date of any scan.
Importing a photo can keep the untouched original alongside the positive, so nothing is overwritten.
NO ACCOUNT, NO INTERNET
Negative Camera works entirely offline. There is no sign up, nothing is uploaded, and your photos stay on your phone.
A TIP FOR GOOD RESULTS
Backlight is everything. A window on an overcast day, a lightbox, or a white screen at full brightness all work well. Keep the negative flat, fill the frame, and sample the film base once per roll.
