One morning at 9:00 a.m., on your way back from a party, you get stuck in traffic because of a city marathon. You're tired, a little exhausted, and initially annoyed. Then you look at the runners: ordinary people, weekend athletes, seniors running, tired but happy people. Something inside you breaks. You decide to start running.
Negative Split is a realistic RPG/life simulator about the slow transformation of a sedentary forty-year-old into an amateur runner. No shortcuts: every progress comes at a cost of time, money, and effort, just like in real life.
WHAT YOU DO EVERY DAY
Manage work, sleep, and free time on a real clock, day after day. Less work, more time to run—but less money. More overtime, more stress, less recovery. You find the balance.
REALISTIC RUNNING
Choose between easy runs, long runs, intervals, hills, fartleks, progressive runs, and more. Set the pace: too slow and you'll make minimal progress; too fast and you risk cramps, injuries, and weeks of downtime. Running behaves as it really does.
REAL STATISTICS
Aerobic endurance, lactate threshold, running economy, strength, mobility, recovery, motivation, discipline, pre-race anxiety. Your body and mind react consistently to weeks of training, sleepless nights, or evenings with old, sedentary friends.
SHOP & EQUIPMENT
Cheap shoes or carbon plates, training and nutrition books, a strength gym—every purchase is a compromise between budget and performance, and shoes really do wear out.
PROVINCIAL CHAMPIONSHIP
Sign up for races—from 5Ks to marathons—on a calendar of 20 races around a fictional province. Register in advance, pay the fee, and on race day, you'll set off alongside 100 rivals of varying skill levels, plus real runners from other players who appear as ghost opponents.
A DIARY THAT TELLS YOUR STORY
Every day leaves a mark. Your running diary follows your evolution: from your first mile to your personal bests, through injuries, setbacks, and moments when you almost gave up.
NO END, ONLY PROGRESS
There's no real finish line. The game doesn't turn you into a pro—it turns you into someone who keeps improving, one workout at a time.
If you've ever started running, or always thought you couldn't, Negative Split is the story of how you begin—and how difficult, true, and sometimes beautiful it is to keep going.
A sedentary 40-year-old becomes a runner. A realistic RPG about life and running.
