About this app

notesd is a notes app for people who want their notes on their own server, not someone else's.

The app keeps a full copy of your notes on your phone. Writing, search and tags all work offline, and everything syncs with your notesd server whenever you're connected. Edits made on two devices at once are merged, or kept as a separate copy, so nothing is lost.

notesd is a simple notes app. It doesn't try to be a second brain.

WHAT YOU GET
• Offline first: your notes live on your phone, not just in the cloud.
• Full-text search across titles and text.
• Tags like #work anywhere in a note, nested with / (#home/garden).
• Spaces to keep separate contexts, such as work and personal, apart.
• Locked notes, encrypted on your device with AES-256-GCM. The server only ever stores ciphertext. Unlock them with a password or your fingerprint. While a locked note is open, it's kept out of screenshots and the recent-apps view.
• Markdown: format with the bar above the keyboard, and add photos.
• Email a note straight from the share menu.
• Works on phones, tablets and foldables, with a sidebar for tags and spaces on wide screens.
