About this app

Most photos and videos on the internet arrive with no way to tell where they came from. OnlyReal Photo & Video Capture is a camera that fixes that at the source: every capture is sealed the moment it is recorded, so the file carries verifiable proof that it is the original and has not been altered since.

HOW IT WORKS

The app opens straight to the camera. Take a photo or a video and it is protected and sealed immediately, before anything else happens to it.

Sealed captures move to the DarkRoom, your private collection point in the cloud. Nothing in the DarkRoom is public. It is simply where your work waits while you decide what to do with it.

When you are ready, you develop a capture and release it. Developed captures stay in your DarkRoom until you remove them, so you can send the same one to more than one place.

The home screen shows this as a single path. You can see at a glance how many captures are waiting undeveloped, and how many are developed and ready to send.

SHARE WHEREVER YOU ALREADY POST

A built-in sharing assistant helps you take a developed capture out to the places you already use, and to the OnlyReal platform when it opens.

FREE TO USE

The capture app is free. There is no subscription, no paywall on sealing or developing, and no limit on how many captures you can release.

PERMISSIONS THIS APP ASKS FOR

- Camera and microphone, because the app is a camera. Capture happens in the app rather than by importing files, which is what makes provenance possible in the first place.

- Location access if you want captures stamped with a verified location. This is optional — capture works without it, and those captures simply do not carry the location stamp.

WHAT THIS APP DOES NOT CLAIM

Provenance shows that a file is the one this app recorded and that it has not been altered since. It does not show that what is in the frame is truthful, accurate, or unstaged.

PART OF SOMETHING LARGER

OnlyReal is a suite of tools for restoring trust online as generated media becomes ordinary. This app is the capture piece on its own. The full OnlyReal platform adds the places where verified media is discussed and put to use, and you can explore it from the home screen.
