it seems nice and well made, but it is NOT for absolute beginners or even intermediate beginners. i would only recommend this for those who already know the hiragana, katakana, kanji, and vocabulary. (even if you tell the app you are an absolute beginner) I rather disliked when it introduced "sore, kare, dore, are" all at once as a set and then immediately expected you to understand the difference in a sentence. and it shows you words with multiple kanji right off the bat. the screen jumps too.

Best Japanese learning app I’ve tried. I used Duolingo and Renshuu for a while, but nothing was really sticking and I felt like I was just completing lessons instead of actually learning Japanese. Penglo has been completely different. The way everything is explained and organized makes it much easier to understand and actually remember what I’m learning. It feels more focused on helping you make real progress instead of keeping you on the app doing repetitive exercises. Definitely recommend!!

This app has no structure no basic flow from where to start to a beginner just wants you to buy a paid subscription not even show basic hiragana. Don't waste your time.
