Darkup is an encrypted messenger built for people who would rather not pay for a private conversation with their identity. No phone number. No email address. No account.
YOUR IDENTITY IS NOT A PHONE NUMBER
On Darkup, your identity is a cryptographic key pair generated on your device. It is tied to no carrier, no directory, no mailbox. It is locked by a hardware security key you keep with you.

THE PHYSICAL KEY
Darkup uses a hardware security key (NFC or USB-C) to lock your identity. You decide, action by action, what requires the key: opening the app, reading a message, placing an encrypted call. Without the key, the identity does not open.
IN-PERSON PAIRING
You cannot find anyone on Darkup by searching. You add a contact by scanning their QR code face to face, then reading the security fingerprint aloud to confirm it. Darkup is not a dating app and not a random stranger chat.
ENCRYPTION
End-to-end encryption, Double Ratchet, forward secrecy, sealed sender, signed call signaling. Private keys never leave your device.
READ THIS BEFORE INSTALLING
Darkup offers no backup and no restore. That is a design decision: a recovery path would also be a way in. If you lose your security key, your identity and your conversations are gone for good. No one, including us, can bring them back.
