About this app

Refracta is software for keeping optometric examination records – for optometrists, practices and optical stores across the European Union. It runs entirely on the device: no cloud, no online accounts, no ads.

THE EXAM STEP BY STEP
The form guides you through each stage of the examination:
• patient data and history, current correction,
• binocular vision and motility (cover test, Maddox, near points),
• retinoscopy (including MEM),
• subjective refraction and visual acuity,
• accommodation and binocular function,
• slit lamp – with ready-made descriptions, severity scale and photos,
• contact lenses,
• summary, spectacle prescription or measurement card, and report.
Switch steps and modules on or off and arrange them to fit your routine, also in several exam profiles.

THE PROGRAM CALCULATES, YOU ENTER THE ASSESSMENT
Refracta records, organises and displays results and calculates auxiliary values (e.g. AC/A, spherical equivalent, anisometropia, retinoscopy conversions). The clinical assessment is always entered by the examiner.

RECORDS AND PRINTOUTS
• exam report and prescription – print or PDF,
• practice header, patient data, entry author and version number,
• version history: every correction creates a new version, the original is kept,
• archive with search by surname, identification number or phone,
• comparison with the previous visit,
• GDPR consent and phone contact consent signed by the patient on the screen.

27 EU COUNTRIES, 22 LANGUAGES
Patient and practice identifiers, required record fields, consents and terminology match the country of the practice. The program language is chosen independently of the country.

DATA SECURITY
• all data stays on the device, encrypted,
• user accounts with passwords and lock after inactivity,
• access log – who opened, corrected or printed the records and when,
• automatic backups protected with the practice password,
• encrypted export – open it in Refracta on a Windows computer.

CONVENIENCE
• handwriting – enter values with a finger or stylus (optional, recognised on the device),
• dark mode,
• works on tablets and phones.

LICENCE
The demo version works for 15 hours of program use. The full version is unlocked by a one-time purchase of a lifetime licence in the app – no subscription.
