Learn French by reading stories, classics and news at your level.
Sorlio is a French reading app for English-speaking learners. Read a short text, tap unfamiliar words for English meanings, listen to the French, then review the vocabulary you want to remember.
READ AT YOUR LEVEL
Choose graded French stories from A1 to C2, from everyday situations to more challenging topics. Follow a guided lesson journey, or explore classic literature extracts for intermediate and advanced readers.
UNDERSTAND WORDS AS YOU READ
Tap words and expressions for help from the built-in French-English dictionary. It uses the sentence to help choose a meaning and flags uncertainty when needed.
BUILD YOUR VOCABULARY
Save useful words from your reading and practise them with spaced repetition. Free use includes 5 new saved words a day and unlimited review of the words you have saved.
LISTEN AND PRACTISE
Listen while you read using your device's French text-to-speech voice, with adjustable speed. Try grammar lessons, comprehension checks and reading practice exercises.
READ NEWS OR YOUR OWN TEXTS
Read French news from official French and EU public sources, or paste your own French text and use the same reading tools.
FREE TO START
Reading, news, importing texts, listening, dictionary lookups, grammar and non-AI practice are free. No account is needed. Sign in with Google if you want to sync your learning across devices.
OFFLINE SUPPORT
Previously loaded texts, dictionary lookups and saved-word review can work offline. Fresh news, sync and AI features require an internet connection. Listening depends on the French voice available on your device.
OPTIONAL PREMIUM
Premium adds unlimited word saving, AI explanations of words and sentences, natural AI translations of news and imported texts, and AI-generated paraphrase practice.
Premium is a monthly subscription billed through Google Play. A Sorlio account is required. The price is shown before purchase and may vary by country. The subscription renews automatically until cancelled; cancel any time in Google Play. There is no free trial.
