About this app

tapuda is an NFC card we make and issue in Japan for exchanging business
cards. Every card carries its own number, and is printed, programmed and
checked here before we send it. The app is where you decide which of your
cards that card should show.


■ Hand it over with a tap

Hold the card against someone's phone and your details open in their
browser. They install nothing and register for nothing.
If the card is not with you, the app shows a QR code that does the same.


■ No reprinting

When your title changes, or your phone number does, you edit it in the
app. Anyone you already handed a card to sees the new version. The card
itself stays as it is.


■ Cards you receive sort by reading

Japanese names cannot be sorted by the characters they are written with.
tapuda keeps the reading as a separate field, so the cards you receive
sort in kana order. You can also group them by company, or filter by
name or company.


■ They stay as cards, not as rows

What you receive stays in the shape of a business card - set in a Mincho
typeface, drawn to the trimmed edge of the paper. When you cannot recall
the company, you can still find it by how it looked.

You can write a note on the back of a card: where you met, what you
talked about. The note is never shown to the other person.


■ One step into Contacts

Add someone from a card you received straight into the Contacts app.
No file to export and open again.


■ Works with no signal

A card you have opened once stays on your device. In a hall or a
basement, the card and its QR code still appear.


■ Carry more than one

Keep a work card and a personal one. Each physical card is assigned the
card it should show.


■ Choose how it looks

Six styles inside the app: the paper look of the printed card, navy for
business, sand with a pattern, a private one that shows only the name,
a dark face, and a vermilion face.

What the other person sees does not change. They always see a card.


■ Four languages

Japanese, English, Traditional Chinese and Korean. The app follows your
device, and you can pick a language in Settings. Emails and notifications
arrive in the same language. Each of your cards can also hold its own
language, so you choose what the other person reads.


■ About the cards

Cards are sold on the tapuda website. There are three of them.

- Logo edition - our logo on the front, a QR code on the back, no name
- Named edition - your name printed on the front
- Meishi edition - set like a paper business card, with company,
job title and reading

Ten finishes for the logo and named editions (five plain, five
patterned); three for the meishi edition.
You can still use the app with QR codes if you do not have a card.

We ship to Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong and South Korea. Shipping is included
in the price within Japan; outside Japan it costs an extra 1,200 JPY, and
any customs duty or import tax is paid by the recipient. Delivery outside
Japan takes about 2-4 weeks.


■ For companies

A company can issue cards to its staff and revoke them when needed.
Revoking a card leaves the person's own profile and account untouched.
The company sees only whether a card was handed out and whether it is
still valid - never what is on the profile, and never the cards that
person has received.


■ Privacy

Only what you choose to put on a profile is shown. We do not read your
contacts and do not collect your location. Notes you write on cards you
received are not shown to anyone else. There is no advertising or
analytics tracking.
