About this app

The Yips is a golf stats app for amateurs who want to get better and are tired of being told they shot a 92. You already know that. We'll show you where the strokes went.

Track It, Face It, Suck less.

MORE THAN A SCORECARD
Log your rounds and see which part of your game is costing you the most: off the tee, approach, short game, or putting. No guessing, and no blaming the putter (okay, maybe a little).
• Every round is broken into driving, approach, short game, and putting.
• Compare yourself against benchmarks, from scratch golfers to 20+ handicaps. Humbling, but useful.
• Watch your handicap differential over time, worked out for you from each course's rating and slope.
• Get an end-of-round summary that stacks the round up against your past rounds and your history at that course.
• Strokes Gained is in there too, if you like that sort of thing. Ignore it if you don't.

LOG THE SHOTS THAT MATTER
Add a shot whenever you want it on the record: club, lie, wind, and whether it was good or bad. Good or bad is about what you were trying to do, so you can tell a bad swing from a bad decision. (Usually the decision. Sorry.)
• GPS tracking measures how far you really hit each club, not how far you tell your buddies.
• Hole by hole, keep score, first-putt distance, fairways, greens in regulation, up and downs, and penalties.

KNOW YOUR BAG
• See which clubs help your score and which ones are just along for the ride.
• Your bag holds 14 clubs, like the rules say. Got more? Keep them on the bench, swap them in when you want to try something, and see how they compare over several rounds.
• Putting breakdowns by distance, so you can see where the 3-putts come from.

HOW IT WORKS
1. Pick your course, tee, walking or riding, and the ball you're playing today if you care. The app pulls the weather for you because why not? It's a data point that might matter. Then start the round.
2. Set your tee club and wind, tap Start GPS tracking, and make your swing.
3. Walk or ride to your ball and tap Mark end. That logs the distance.
4. Before each next shot, tap Add shot and choose your club, lie, and wind. Repeat until you're on the green.
5. Enter your strokes, putts, and any penalties, then save and move to the next hole.

FREE, WITH AN OPTIONAL SUBSCRIPTION
Round tracking and your stats on the phone are free.

The optional Caddy subscription adds:
• Cloud backup, so your rounds survive a new phone.
• API access to your raw data. It's your data, so use it in whatever tool you like.
• Virtual Caddy club suggestions based on the distances you've actually hit. (This one is still a work in progress.)

Fore! (Mostly at yourself.)
Golf stats tracking that finds where your strokes go. Track it, face it.

What’s new

New Virtual Caddy mode: Course History. Instead of only ever handing you a driver off the tee, it remembers what you've actually played on each hole — and how it went. Tee off with the 7-iron on that stubby par 4 enough times and it'll start handing you the 7-iron. Keep blowing it with the driver there and it'll quietly stop suggesting it. Pick it in Settings under the caddy engine.
