About this app

ToneSeed is a complete ear training app for musicians, singers, producers, and music theory students. Use it for interval ear training, chord recognition, sight singing, solfege, melodic dictation, rhythm dictation, and practical music theory.

An adaptive engine learns your strengths and weaknesses, then builds each ear training session around what you need to practise most.

INTERVAL EAR TRAINING
Identify ascending, descending, and harmonic intervals from unison to octave. ToneSeed tracks your accuracy for each interval and direction, then challenges the weak spots. Anchor every interval with reference songs you know.

CHORD RECOGNITION
Recognize 11 chord types: major, minor, diminished, augmented, sus2, sus4, and seventh voicings (Maj7, min7, dom7, dim7, m7b5). Train root position through 3rd inversion.

SCALES AND MUSIC THEORY
Recognize 12 scale types: major, natural minor, harmonic minor, melodic minor, major and minor pentatonic, blues, and 5 modes. Each scale plays as a melody with staff notation so ear training stays connected to music theory.

SOLFEGE AND SIGHT SINGING
Practice solfege and sight singing with real-time pitch detection. Work through 26 progressive exercises across 7 major keys, from stepwise motion to challenging leaps, and get immediate feedback on your sung notes.

SING INTERVALS AND TRIAD TONES
Hear a root, then sing the target interval in your own vocal range. For chord entrance practice, hear a triad and sing its 3rd or 5th while a pitch meter shows where you landed.

MELODIC DICTATION
Train melodic dictation across 3 modes:
- Diatonic: melodies in 5 major keys
- Atonal: chromatic melodies with no key center
- Melodic-rhythmic: pitch and rhythm transcription together

RHYTHM DICTATION
Practise rhythm dictation from memory across 8 difficulty levels, from quarter notes to patterns with dots, ties, rests, syncopation, and triplets.

CADENCES AND CHORD PROGRESSIONS
Identify cadences, common chord progressions, pop progressions, jazz ii-V-I turnarounds, 12-bar blues, and minor-key progressions. Build custom practice sets by choosing scale degrees or use presets for Pop, Rock, Jazz, Blues, and Classical.

VOCAL WARMUP
Guided 5-, 8-, or 12-minute routines: sirens, lip-trills, hums, scales, arpeggios, and sustained tones, transposed through your own vocal range.
