About this app

Trackwise puts every train running in Great Britain on a live map, and is honest about what it knows: every time on screen says whether it was reported, forecast or estimated.

LIVE MAP
• Every train in England, Scotland and Wales, at any zoom: dots across the country, then drawn to scale on the real track, in their operator's colours, as you zoom in.
• Trains glide along the line between reports, so the map never sits still.
• Tap a train to follow it at street level, with its route, times and how far along it is.

STATION BOARDS
• Departures, arrivals and passing trains for any station, at any date and time.
• See at a glance whether each train is on time, at the platform or not running yet, plus its type, carriages and platform, with platform changes highlighted.
• Live disruption messages, powered by National Rail Enquiries.

JOURNEYS
• Every stop with booked, actual and expected times, including delays, skipped stops, joins and splits.
• The train drawn side-on in its livery, with its unit number and carriages.
• "Show on map" draws the journey: solid where the train has been, dashed ahead.

YOUR COMMUTE
• Save the train you take and Trackwise watches it for you, even with the app closed.
• You're alerted if it's late, cancelled, won't call at your stations or changes platform, in a notification laid out like a ticket, with Track and View buttons.
• Get its status an hour, 30, 15, 10 and 5 minutes before it leaves (you choose which).
• A reliability score for that exact train, e.g. "more than 10 minutes late on 11 of the last 20 weekdays".
• During your commute, the app opens straight on your train.

SEARCH
• Stations by name or code, headcodes (2F45), unit and loco numbers (231004) and whole classes (Class 231).
• Every direct train between two stations, today or tomorrow.
• Browse the fleet and put every working unit of a class on the map.

MAKE IT YOURS
• Pick the train in the launch intro: Trackwise's own, a Class 231 FLIRT bound for Bargod, the Flying Wiseman in steam, or a pump trolley worked by its crew, through night, countryside or Eryri scenery.
• Light and dark themes, favourite stations, and freight on or off.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN
• No account, no ads, no analytics.
• Your settings, favourites and commute stay on your phone.
• Location is optional, used on your phone only to centre the map with "Near me".

Train data comes from RailFeed and Network Rail open data, with live departures and disruption messages from National Rail Enquiries. Times can change at short notice, so check before you travel.
