KeyRelay is a button remapper for the keys you already have: the volume rocker, a Bluetooth keyboard, a media remote, a foot pedal, a headset button, a controller or a TV remote. Press a key, choose what it does, and KeyRelay runs it in every app.

What you can map

How a key can be pressed
• Short or long press, or keep the key's normal job too
• Repeat while held for volume, brightness and seeking (at most 10 times a second)
• Bounce filter for worn remotes and pedals
• Pro: double press, combos of up to 3 keys, sequences of up to 4, an action when you let go

What a key can do
• Back, Home, Recents, last app, notifications, Quick Settings, power menu, split screen, lock, screenshot
• Media, volume steps or an exact level, ringer, audio output, flashlight on or off, brightness steps or a level, vibration, rotation, keep screen on
• Open an app, a shortcut, a link, the camera, the assistant or a settings panel
• Cut, copy, paste, select all, cursor moves, Enter
• Optional KeyRelay keyboard: press any key, with Ctrl, Shift or Alt, or hold it down while you hold the trigger

Safety
• Hold Volume Up and Volume Down for 3 seconds to pause every mapping. This always works
• Pause from the Quick Settings tile, the widget or the app

Why KeyRelay uses Accessibility
KeyRelay uses the Accessibility service to see the keys you press, so the keys you mapped can run the actions you chose. It notes the app in front for profiles and conditions, reads the text field you are in only for text actions, and checks whether the on-screen keyboard is showing. It taps, swipes or pinches only when you press a key mapped to one, at the spot you picked. Its only overlays are the spot picker, your floating buttons and the keep-screen-on window. It does not collect, store or send personal data, does not read your messages, screen or passwords, and runs nothing on its own. Turn it off anytime in Settings › Accessibility.

The KeyRelay keyboard is optional and off until you turn it on. It types only what your mappings say, reads nothing, saves nothing and never types into password fields.

Privacy
• Key presses are handled in memory, never logged or stored
• Mappings stay on your phone; backup and restore are free
• No ads, no account, no analytics, no crash reporting

Free: 5 mappings, short and long press, every action except screen taps, text snippets, Do Not Disturb and intents, starter sets, backup, share codes and the key tester. Pro removes the limit and adds the rest, once for life or yearly.

What’s new

KeyRelay 1.7: press a key 3, 4 or 5 times for its own action (Pro), like a double press with more presses. Repeat while held can wait longer before it starts and stop after a set number of repeats. Lock rotation upside down or in the other landscape. New actions: "Play a sound" (a beep or the phone's notification, alarm or ringtone sound) and "Copy text to the clipboard" (Pro).
