About this app

PadBench is a gamepad tester and controller toolkit for Android: test every button and stick, calibrate drift and deadzones, and use your controller to move around your phone or tablet. It runs on Android 4.3 and newer, with no ads and no internet.

One-time purchase · No subscription · No ads · No account · Works 100% offline · No internet permission

Gamepad tester
• A guided full test gives your controller a 0–100 health score, with advice
• Every button lights up with key name, scan code and hold time; chatter warning for double presses
• Raw view of every axis and key, so even unrecognized pads can be checked
• Testing B never leaves the screen
• Works with most Bluetooth and USB controllers that Android recognizes

Sticks, triggers and timing
• Live 2-D plot per stick with trail, circularity score, drift at rest and noise
• Deadzone estimate from the drift test, applied in one tap
• Trigger travel curve, hat or D-pad keys, and a touchpad trail where the pad has one
• Polling-interval histogram with jitter and min/avg/max, plus CSV export. Measured inside Android, not wireless delay
• Rumble test; dual motors, battery, lights and motion sensors on Android 12+
• Connection log, and a report as text, CSV or PDF (4.4+), with no personal data

Pairing help
Opens Android's own Bluetooth settings with offline animated how-tos. No Bluetooth or location permission.

Calibration and profiles
• Inner and outer deadzone, radial or axial, anti-deadzone, and curves (linear, smooth, aggressive or your own)
• Invert or swap axes, trigger threshold, and fixes such as swapped A/B
• Live before/after plot; profiles per controller, picked when it connects, as .padbench files; encrypted backup
Calibration applies inside PadBench and its mapping, not to other apps (Android allows no app to do that).

Couch mode
Back, Home, Recents, notifications, quick settings, music volume steps and media play, fast-forward and rewind from the sofa, plus power menu, split screen, lock and screenshot where Android offers them. The D-pad moves a focus ring over buttons in normal apps, A selects, the shoulder buttons scroll. Editable bindings; hold Select + Start to pause; pauses in chosen apps.

Pointer mode
A stick drives a cursor (speed and acceleration), the right stick scrolls. On Android 7+ a press taps at the cursor; on 4.3–6 it clicks buttons in normal apps, or taps anywhere with the PC helper.

Basic+ touch mapping (8 layouts × 16 controls)
Place controls and bind each one by pressing a button: tap, hold, toggle-hold, a virtual joystick on the left stick or the D-pad (4- or 8-way), and a basic drag zone for the right stick (speed, invert, re-center at the edge). Set opacity, a snap grid and size, choose per layout whether sticks are captured and unmapped buttons pass through, and share a layout as a file. Layouts can follow the app in front. One press gives one touch you placed; nothing runs by itself.
• Android 7+: no PC needed (one gesture at a time on Android 7; hold and tap together from Android 8)
• Any version, including 4.3–6: an optional helper you start with one PC command (adb) after each restart, for real multi-touch, with a Copy button

Also: a Demo pad, a touch test canvas, a Quick Settings tile, a widget and a "What works on this phone" screen.

Why PadBench uses Accessibility
Couch mode, pointer mode and gesture mapping use Android's Accessibility service to read controller presses, see which app is in front, find on-screen buttons and perform the taps and swipes you set up. It only performs the actions you set up. It does not collect, store or send personal data, and it does not read your messages or passwords. You can turn it off anytime.

Fair play
Some online games forbid third-party input tools, remappers or macros in their terms. Using them may get your account restricted. Check each game's rules. PadBench only turns your own presses into touches. It does not aim, automate, or hide itself.
Test, calibrate and use your game controller. No ads, no account, offline.

What’s new

1.3: A stick filter in calibration (snapback filter and smoothing) for PadBench's pointer, couch mode and mapping. New keyboard, remote and mouse tester. Battery log with drain rate and time left (Android 12+). Wake-up and idle times in the connection log. Key-layout (.kl) file export for rooted phones. Rooted phones can also start the helper with root, no PC needed.
