About this app

WorthStop helps you decide where to stop for gas or EV charging — taking the factors that actually matter into account.

Instead of giving you a long list of stations and making you figure out which one is worth the detour, WorthStop analyzes the available options along your trip and recommends the stops that make the most sense.

WorthStop considers factors such as:

fuel or charging price
extra distance from your route
detour time
estimated cost of the detour
price freshness and confidence
cash, credit or membership pricing when available
EV charging power and other available charger information

The result is a simple recommendation designed to answer one question:

Smarter fuel price estimates

Fuel prices can be outdated, incomplete or inconsistent across different sources.

WorthStop combines multiple price signals, checks them against each other and uses historical and market information to estimate the most likely current price at each station.

When available, WorthStop also shows how fresh the information is and how confident the system is in the price.

A cheaper station isn't always a cheaper stop

Driving several miles out of your way to save a few cents per gallon can cost more than it saves.

WorthStop takes the detour itself into account — including additional distance, time and estimated driving cost — before recommending a stop.

That means the lowest advertised price will not always be the station WorthStop recommends.

EV charging recommendations

For EV trips, WorthStop helps identify charging options that make sense for your route based on available charger information, charging power, location and detour.

EV charging functionality is currently in beta, and live charger availability may not always be available.

Built around your trip

Enter where you're going and WorthStop evaluates the available stops around your route.

You can review the recommendation, see alternatives and then open navigation when you're ready to go.

Help improve price accuracy

If the price you see at a station is different, you can report it in WorthStop.

Independent user confirmations provide additional signals that help keep prices current and improve future recommendations.

Confidence instead of false certainty

Not every piece of price information is equally reliable.

WorthStop distinguishes between stronger observations and estimates rather than treating every reported price as equally accurate.

This allows the recommendation engine to account for both the price itself and the confidence behind it.

Privacy-friendly

You can use WorthStop without creating an account, and continuous background location tracking is not required.

WorthStop is currently focused on the San Francisco Bay Area, with additional regions planned as coverage expands.
