The app offers a cost calculation structure based on predefined models, which the user can adjust if they have better quality / precision data and generate their own model. The scenarios are elaborated and periodically updated by regional technical referents, and can be downloaded from the app itself. Preset models are site specific, emerging from local experiences.
After downloading the available models, the user chooses one in particular and agrees to review the calculation data. The cost structure is organized into six headings: investment, fuels and lubricants, spare parts and maintenance, labor, personal protective equipment and tools. There is a last item called "others", where additional costs can be included. For each of the items, the list of the variables that compose it and the values assigned by the referent of the chosen model is presented. The user can edit each of these values, if necessary, and save the edited models. You can also choose to include all items in the calculation, or disable some. After reviewing all the variables, you choose to calculate, and the app shows the total hourly cost of using the chainsaw including labor. The graphical output shows the breakdown by item, with its values and percentages with respect to the total. This output screen can be quickly shared with other users from a button in the same app.
Models edited by the user can be saved on the device and made available for future editions.
The call is open to new references who want to share their models with the chainsaw community. For this, a link to a form is available, which is accessed from the "about" of the app.
