About this app
Application to prevent, monitor and design measures to avoid the run-over of native fauna, developed by the Marandú Comunicaciones Development team and the technical team of the Ministry of Ecology and RNR of Misiones, with the collaboration of the Provincial Department of Roads. It allows to collect valuable information for decision-making about the realization of prevention measures such as pasafaunas, signage, creation of protected areas, among others.
The Province of Misiones is the one with the greatest biodiversity in the country. It contains 52% of the species that inhabit the Argentine territory, including 39% of mammals, 55% of birds and 73% of reptiles. It was declared National Capital of Biodiversity by the National Congress.
Many animals lose their lives when trying to transpose roads around the world, and the development of road infrastructure, with the unquestionable progress it brings, can mean a threat to biodiversity.
It is important that citizens become involved and participate in the collection of data, making a contribution to conservation and allowing a more transverse link in the interactions between society, the State and science.
Because Tamanduá
The Melero Bear, Tamanduá or Tamanduá Mirí (Tamandua tetradactyla), is a characteristic species of the missionary forest. It is a peaceful animal with slow movements, which makes it very vulnerable when trying to transpose the route. On the other hand, when recognizing a nearby threat, its defensive behavior is to stand in front of its threat by raising its front limbs, from which the said "embrace of tamanduá" is commonly extracted. When the threat is a moving vehicle it is easy to foresee the sad result. Hence, this charismatic and emblematic Misiones species has been chosen to refer to the application that aims to reduce the conflict between fauna and human transport.
