About this app

Horary is the astrology of the question. A chart is cast for the moment the question is understood, and the answer is read from that chart by the classical rules - Lilly, Bonatti, Masha'allah. It is a different craft from natal astrology, with a different first question: may this chart be judged at all.

Everything is computed on the device. There is no ephemeris file, no account and no network call.

ASKING
- Pick what the question is about and the app turns it into a house
- Turned houses for somebody else's matter: their money is the second from their house, not from yours
- The chart is cast for the instant you press Ask

THE JUDGEMENT
- Significators for the querent and the quesited, with the Moon as co-significator
- The four ways a matter perfects: application, translation, collection, prohibition by a third planet
- The three impediments: refranation, frustration, and an aspect that cannot complete before a significator changes sign
- Condition: combustion within 8 degrees 30, cazimi within 17 minutes, under the beams within 17 degrees
- Essential dignity in full - domicile, exaltation, triplicity, the Egyptian terms and the faces
- Timing from the degrees to perfection and the mode of the sign

BEFORE JUDGEMENT
The seven classical considerations, each shown with what the tradition actually makes of it. None of them cancels a chart; the authorities argue about how binding they are, and the app says so rather than pretending they agree.

NO VERDICT
The app never prints an answer. Testimonies are grouped for the matter, against it, and as context, each with its reasoning and the source it comes from, and the reader counts them. That is Lilly's own method and the only claim a program is entitled to make.

THE JOURNAL
Write your judgement before you know, then mark later whether it held. The record keeps the count, and open questions are never counted as misses.

Regiomontanus houses, which is doctrine rather than preference and therefore not a setting.

ACCURACY
Positions come from analytic series computed on the device and agree with JPL Horizons to about 1.4 arcseconds for the Sun and 2 arcminutes for the Moon, with 4.2 arcminutes the worst case across the classical seven.

Free to install, with ads. A single one-time purchase removes them.
Cast a chart for the moment you ask, and judge it by Lilly's rules.
