The Financial Register is an independent Australian newsroom covering fraud and financial crime — the money that arrives before the trouble does.

Read the day's reporting: what regulators did, which banks changed a rule, who was charged, and how the money actually moved. The app also carries three tools you will not find in another Australian news app.

Check your situation. Four questions about what has happened to you and your account, and a straight answer about what to do in the next hour. The result is decided by a fixed rule, not by a model.

Check a money request. Paste a message someone has sent you and see what the desk would flag in it — a cut of the money passing through, a job with no interview, a deadline doing the persuading. The analysis runs on your phone. Nothing is uploaded.

Case files. Anonymised accounts of how the patterns actually play out: the online partner, the quick cash job, the refund that was too generous, the classmate with an offer. Each one shows the mechanism and the tells.

You can also send a suspicious message straight in from anywhere on your phone — select the text, choose The Financial Register, and it opens in the analyser.

What this app does not do: it cannot recover money, it does not investigate, it will not represent you, and it never tells you that you are safe. If money has already moved, ring your bank on the number printed on the back of your own card. In an emergency, ring 000.
