About this app

Self Guide App is a GPS audio guide that runs in your phone's browser and in this app. Open a guide, press Start and go. As you approach a place, the guide tells you which way to look and starts the story. No meeting point, no start time, no signup.

WHAT IS INSIDE
- Sydney city guide: 180 attractions and over 14 hours of audio. Opera House, Harbour Bridge, The Rocks, Circular Quay, Hyde Park, Darling Harbour, Kings Cross, Paddington, Bondi, Watsons Bay, Manly and the streets in between. Works on foot, by bike and by car.
- Sydney Light Rail guide: free. Board the tram at Circular Quay and every stop gets its story.
- Sydney Marathon course guide: the route from Milsons Point to the Opera House, landmark by landmark.
- The same city guide in Russian.

HOW IT WORKS
1. Press Start. The map follows you and shows where the stories are.
2. Near a place the guide says where to look, then tells the story.
3. Places you pass get a short line; the big ones get the full account. Between them, podcasts about the city.
4. Not in Sydney yet? Run the simulation and the guide drives the route for you.

FREE TRIAL, THEN A PASS
The first attractions are free to try. The full city guide is a one-off pass for one day, three days or 30 days. No subscription. The light rail guide is free.

BOUGHT A PASS?
Paste the access link from our email into the box on the app's first screen, or tap the link in the email on this phone. The app attaches itself to your guide and opens it unlocked: from then on it starts straight into the tour.

What’s new

- Steering wheel and headset buttons: play/pause on your car's wheel or your earphones now pauses and resumes the guide, just like a music player. Next/previous skip a paragraph, and the car screen shows the story's name.
- The guide now plays through the phone's own audio player, for smoother sound with the screen off.
