About this game

The Polyglots apps are part of the Early Learning Languages Australia (ELLA) program, funded by the Australian Government Department of Education, Skills and Employment and managed by Education Services Australia. They are a series of engaging, play-based language learning apps that encourage children in the early years of schooling to explore another language and culture.

Schools set the apps to one language from a choice of Arabic, Chinese (Mandarin), French, German, Hindi, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Modern Greek, Spanish, Turkish and Vietnamese.

App 10: The Polyglots at the Pet Park is the third of four new apps designed for primary school students in Years 1–2. It is set in an imaginary pet day care centre with the Polyglots and their pets and provides opportunities for Year 2 students to learn nouns for various pets. Students will learn the phrase 'What is it?’ and ‘Is it a ?’ They will also learn a selection of adjectives to describe some features of the pets.
