About this app

The National Relay Service (NRS) is a government initiative that allows people who are deaf, hard of hearing and/or have a speech impairment to make and receive phone calls.

With this app you can currently make calls using the following NRS call options:
- NRS Chat – if you want to type and read your conversation
- Voice Relay – if you are hard to understand on the phone
- NRS Captions – if you can speak but can’t hear clearly
- Video Relay – if you use Auslan

The app and any calls you make while using the app are free. However, the app requires an internet connection and uses data. How you are charged for this data will depend on the plan you have with your service provider.

See https://www.communications.gov.au/accesshub/nrs to find out more about the NRS or the NRS app.

No log in option, you say we need to register and so far only 2 days left. Many of us, me included have registered and been approved, yet your app doesn't allow for log ins. Get your I.T. up to doing the job or find someone else who knows what to do. We don't need an inadequate service app. We need one that actually works. This is an embarrassment to Australia and to the Deaf community.

Frustrating when you get disconnected halfway through typing because I am apparently taking too long even after stating that I am not am not fast at typing. Get cut off because you are on hold with Centrelink for to long which I cannot control how long Centrelink wait times are. And can't use it to receive calls because on any of the contact detail forms it won't allow the amount of characters you need to put the NRS number then your own. Overall average

Stops sending your message for no reason halfway through a call so the agent is forced to disconnect the call. Incredibly frustrating. Please hire a decent programmer to fix the clearly tragic coding of this app.
