The Project Life10NAT EN 241 TIB - Trans Insubria Bionet has as its purpose the implementation of a series of actions aimed at maintaining the ecological connection and improvement of habitats along the ecological corridor insubrico between the massif of Campo dei Fiori and the Valle del Ticino .
The contents of this application are intended to introduce you to the Project Life10 IT NAT 241 TIB - Trans Insubria Bionet.
The project involves the implementation of a series of actions aimed at maintaining the ecological connection and improvement of habitats in the stretch of the ecological corridor that links the massif of Campo dei Fiori at the Valle del Ticino.
Because its own action in this area? Because this is the most threatened portion of great ecological corridor, across the massif of Campo dei Fiori, the intermorenici lakes of Varese and Ticino Valley, it combines the Alps to the Apennines.
The connection between the green areas is critical for wildlife which must move to feed, breed or simply find more suitable places to life.
When these connections are interrupted, wild animals, but also plants, are condemned to a progressive isolation that weakens the vitality leading, sometimes, the various species to extinction.
With the Project Life TIB want to counter this tendency to destruction and fragmentation of habitats, the main causes of biodiversity loss.
In this sense, TIB Life intervenes on one side with works by defragmenting, or, on the removal or mitigation of bottlenecks which hamper the access areas and, secondly, with works for the improvement of habitats in which they live the most threatened species in the territory of fragmented situation.
To encourage the population of amphibians were made road underpasses, play pools, and redevelopment of wetlands.
road underpasses have been excavated for small and medium size mammals.
Some existing underpasses have been made more "attractive" for the fauna thanks to interventions of renaturation.
defragmentation works have also affected the bridges since, in case of high water levels, they represent a bottleneck that prevents the movement of wildlife along the banks of the river flowing under the artifact.
Near some pools they were built of dry stone walls to support the populations of amphibians and reptiles.
Also provided are of forest operations on alien species and other aimed at the conservation of fauna saproxilica in steep decline.
Finally, we have been tested techniques of removal of hydrophytes (aquatic plants) in invasive Brabbia Swamp and Lake Varese.
