About this app

News on the global movement #metoo places GBV at the heart of the debate. Benin is unfortunately part of this sad reality that must be curbed. Many leaders of the civil society have fired the solemn alarm on the increasingly polarized social environment, materialized by the deterioration of the quality of life and a rise in violence. Women and girls bear the brunt of all the violence that characterizes social, political, cultural and economic relations in society, because of the high illiteracy rate of women and sociological burdens. Apart from traditional violence, Beninese women and girls are subject to traditional rites and practices that constitute violence against them: forced marriage, marriage by exchange, widowhood of liberties, levirate, excision, abuse, abduction of women, rape, deprivation of property rights, etc.
It is to diversify the means of effective fight against these practices that Social Watch Benin, through the REPASOC project, is redesigning and extending the STOP-VBG platform which is an electronic platform for denouncing cases of violence based on the gender (VBG).
