About this app

Navigating the Brazilian jurisdictional waters with safety is necessary. The Bulletin to the MAR contributes to the tranquility of the navigator. It brings information of high reliability generated by the Brazilian Navy / Directorate of Hydrography and Navigation - DHN, which will assist all those who go to the Brazilian coast, oceanic areas of the South Atlantic and inland waterways.

Developed to gather and transmit relevant and up-to-date information on navigation safety products routinely and systematically produced by DHN, the Bulletin to the Sea contributes directly to the activities of hydrography, oceanography, cartography, marine meteorology, navigation and nautical signage.

Upon accessing the application, the user will find the products disseminated by the Brazilian Marine Meteorological Service (SMM) and the Maritime Safety Information Service (ISM) to safeguard human life in Brazil's maritime liability area (METAREA V). Among the products released by SMM, the Meteoromarinha can be accessed, which consists of a meteoceanographic bulletin that provides forecasts of weather, wind, waves and visibility for 24 and 48 hours; the Warnings of Bad Weather, which are messages issued in advance to warn of the possible occurrence of one or more conditions that may represent risk to navigation; the Synoptic Letters, which are elaborated twice a day, where it is possible to observe the positioning of the pressure lines (isobars), identifying the formation of low centers (cyclones) or high atmospheric pressure (anticyclones), presence of troughs and systems frontal on the METAREA V; and meteograms, results of numerical weather forecasting models, where users can view weather information such as pressure, temperature, relative humidity, wind, precipitation, and cloudiness in the form of graphs for various cities along the Brazilian coast. In the section on Navigational Security, the Nautical Radio Warnings and SAR (Search and Rescue) Notices are available. The first refers to messages transmitted to ships for the purpose of providing "urgent information" relevant to safe navigation. The second consists of "SAR emergency alert" or "search and rescue coordination" messages transmitted to ships in a given area.
