It is in a typical country town, where life takes place around the main square, with the church in the background and a small warehouse, that in 1955 the history of entrepreneurship of the Rolim de Freitas Family begins. In this time of many challenges and uncertainties, the young Lazaro Rolim de Freitas and Benedito Rolim de Freitas, better known as “Lazinho” and “Ditinho”, set up the “São Cristóvão” warehouse, on Rua XV de Novembro, a moment in which they already counted with the help of their wives and a few employees to serve the clientele that was advertised. The warehouse was well stocked with goods and all kinds of food. Some hanging, others exposed on shelves, made up the environment with the old and heavy cash register that turned on the crank and left nostalgia.
Customers came from all neighborhoods, even the most distant ones. Thus began the good relationship between customers, friends and businessmen that lasts until today. Consideration and respect for the clientele has always been paramount for entrepreneurs. With this, they gained the credibility and trust of the population. The supermarket concept as we have it today was something futuristic, but it was growing around the world, while Ibiúna was crawling.
Currently, Supermercado Ibiúna already has 460 employees and, in this regard, it is proud to employ the population of Ibiúna and offer opportunities for young people, since many started as a packer at the age of 16, gained opportunities for professional growth and some have been with the company for more than two decades. Today, it is the sons of businessmen who manage the supermarket. With the competence and humility inherited from their parents, they keep the company in constant growth, striving for good service and high quality products and services.
