Designed to assist in obtaining the 2D Form and Angularity parameters of Coarse Aggregates, FormaG aims to serve educational, research, and professional activities related to civil and heavy construction.
The FormaG has two modules:
The 2D Form module estimates the length and width of the particle. The App uses Principal Component Analysis (PCA) to identify the direction of greatest variance (pixels most spread along the contour). With the main direction, the particle is rotated, and the largest dimension (length) is calculated by the difference between the smallest and largest horizontal coordinates. With the difference between the smallest and largest vertical coordinates, the particle width is measured.
The Angularity module measures a 2D angularity index based on the equivalent ellipse method. Here each particle has an ellipse fitted to its contour using the least squares method.
