Transcarioca Trail is a long distance trail (180 km long) that cross the main chain of mountains in the city of Rio de Janeiro and six natural protected
natural areas:
• Grumari Municipal Natural Park;
• Pedra Branca State Park;
• Tijuca National Park;
• Catacumba Municipal Natural Park;
• Carioca Paisagem Municipal Natural Park;
• Pão de Açucar and Urca Hills Natural Monument.
The trail inspires, connects and allows unforgettable and democratic experiences with nature in the "Cultural Urban Landscape of Rio de Janeiro city (UNESCO).The Transcarioca Trail has been implemented and managed by the protected areas teams in cooperation with many adopters and volunteers, aggregated in the Transcarioca Trail social movement.
