The Cancontrol application was developed in a partnership between the Federal Institute of Santa Catarina (IFSC) - Campus Lages - and the São Joaquim Experimental Station of the Agricultural Research and Rural Extension Company of Santa Catarina (Epagri-EESJ). It makes it possible for producers and technicians responsible for the properties to learn about the European Cancer of Apple Trees, this important disease that has been spreading in the southern region of Brazil.
A set of texts, images and videos prepared by the Epagri-EESJ researchers present the history of the disease, its symptoms, etiology, epidemiology, the main management measures and other information about the disease. With them, it is intended to help producers and technicians in the process of diagnosing the disease, in order to reduce its spread.
In addition, a monitoring module allows rural producers and technical managers to register with Epagri, so that they can register suspicious plants. Some information about the suspected infected plant, its photos and geographic coordinates are sent to Epagri-EESJ researchers, who analyze the situation and issue a diagnosis, which can have the following values: positive; negative; or face-to-face analysis required, if it is not possible to diagnose the plant only with the data sent by the application. The rural producer or technical responsible person who sent the registration receives a notification with the result, as soon as the researchers complete the analysis.
