About this game

The ALEA (Literacy and Literacy in the Autistic Spectrum) game was developed to help children with ASD (Autistic Spectrum Disorder) acquire literacy.

The project “Development of emerging literacy in children with autism spectrum disorder – ASD – through an educational application” had the general objective of developing an educational application, available for mobile devices (tablets and cell phones) and the web, to help family members and teachers in the emerging literacy process of children with ASD. With financial support from the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq), through the Pesquisador Gaúcho program, the project also aims to:


Review the contents traditionally indicated for Early Childhood Education and the objectives of teaching reading and writing provided for the first and second years of Elementary School, according to the BNCC (2018), considering children diagnosed with ASD;
Develop pedagogical proposals to develop linguistic, cognitive and social skills of children diagnosed with ASD, with a view to acquiring reading and writing, based on the developed application;
Promote access to knowledge and development of children with ASD through play and consolidate an interdisciplinary team of researchers focused on the development of didactic material focused on the inclusion of children with ASD.

To this end, legal documents referring to early childhood education and the early years of elementary school and the study plans of the municipality of Campo Bom for these levels of education were studied. In addition, a study was carried out on the acquisition of reading and writing, especially for children with ASD. From this, this application, ALEA, was developed in order to contribute to the development of literacy in children with ASD and, consequently, to language acquisition. With this application, it is believed that it is possible to contribute to the literacy process of children with ASD, also with the improvement of their quality of life and the quality of life of their families and with the pedagogical practice of teachers who work with children with ASD. this diagnosis.
