CIRA Canadian Shield provides cybersecurity protection built for Canadians, by Canadians.

Shield is perfect for everyday Canadians who want to stay protected from phishing, smishing and other cyberattacks so they can stay focused on what matters most.

Block malicious websites that can steal your data, install malware or trick you into scams.

Shield is free, easy-to-use and brought to by a trusted Canadian not-for-profit – CIRA.

We provide two levels of protection:

Protected: This will automatically block malicious websites from loading on your device.

Family: This offers the same cybersecurity protection as the “Protected” level but will also block pages that are inappropriate for some families, such as sexual content

This application utilizes Android's VpnService to provide enhanced security and privacy features. The VpnService is employed to establish a local, secure connection on your device, enabling features such as network traffic filtering, ad-blocking, or firewall functionality. It does not route your traffic through remote VPN servers unless explicitly stated as part of a specific feature (e.g., for secure browsing or bypassing geo-restrictions). All traffic processing occurs locally on your device, ensuring your data remains private and secure.

Worried about your data? Don’t be. Unlike similar services CIRA will never sell your data or use it show you ads.
