Designed by the Ministry of the Environment and the Fight against Climate Change, Wildlife and Parks of Quebec, Sentinel is a free tool that allows you to learn more about more than 65 invasive alien species (IAS). These are the main invasive exotic plants and animals of concern for the natural environments of Quebec and the main species to watch out for. Most of these species are already present in Quebec, while others are likely to be introduced.
Sentinel includes, for each IAS, an information sheet presenting the main characteristics, preferred habitats, propagation mechanisms, as well as photographs to help them identify them quickly.
If you believe you have spotted an IAS, take a photograph and report your sighting indicating its location using Sentinel. You will thus contribute to increasing knowledge on the distribution of IAS in Quebec.
It is important to report the presence of these species since they can have negative repercussions on the environment, the economy and society. Some of them are subject to monitoring or control efforts in order to limit their spread and their negative impacts.
In addition to a mobile application, Sentinelle is also composed of a web platform. The Web component allows you to view all valid EEE observations, as well as the summary of your EEE observations via your user account.
