About this app

The Webfauna mobile application makes it easy to enter your animal observations in the field and provides free reference keys to identify dragonflies, butterflies and red zygens, amphibians (larvae and adults), reptiles and mammals in Switzerland. Heavy field guides can be left at home. With the Webfauna mobile application, they are in your pocket:

- Inventory your wildlife observations (except birds) easily using our input form (“Insert data”)
- Locate the location of your observations using the GPS of your smartphone and the Swisstopo base map
- Take photos of your observations to help our experts validate quality data
- Identify your observations using our electronic determination keys (Dragonflies, Amphibians – larvae and adults, Reptiles, Mammals, Butterflies and red zygens)
- Consult our description sheets (“Species Sheets”) to check your identifications. The sheets bring together the distinctive characteristics of the species, distribution, phenology and altitudinal distribution
- Finally, don’t forget to send your data to info fauna (“Your data” then “Send”)
With the Webfauna mobile application, you do not limit yourself to determining, inventorying and transmitting your observations to info fauna.
