About this app

TWINT is Switzerland’s digital cash. With TWINT, you can make convenient and secure payments using your smartphone.

All TWINT functions:
- Send and request money
- Make quick and secure payments in online shops
- Buy digital vouchers, pay for your parking and make donations in TWINT+, directly in the app 
- Make convenient and secure payments at cash registers, in farm shops and vending machines
- Store customer loyalty cards and employee cards in the app
- Benefit from discount coupons and digital stamp cards

Switzerland’s biggest banks offer their own version of the TWINT app. Please search in the App Store for the name of your bank together with the term “TWINT”. 

Top up credit:
The TWINT prepaid solution can be used by everyone, regardless of at which bank your account is
- Top up via your bank account (direct debit)
- Top up via a deposit slip
- Top up via a voucher code

Security:
TWINT is as secure as e-banking. All transactions take place in a secure environment. TWINT also does not disclose any personal data to third parties.

The money is not stored directly on the smartphone. In the event that your smartphone is stolen, TWINT can be blocked immediately by calling the hotline [phone]).

Ratings and reviews

Works well, the only issue I had while registering was that my phone (LG G7) used the wide angle camera to take a picture of my Bank Card. Because you need to bring the card close to the lens and the lens used was wide angle, it couldn't focus on the card. I had to use a different phone to register and then switch back to my regular phone.

A lot has improved since my last review in 2016. I have no complaints anymore. The only thing I'd wish for now is support for offline payments. Some stores offer you free wifi just for paying with Twint, but of course the real reason is that they can track your movement through the store and collect other data. If you don't want that but still want to pay via mobile phone, Twint currently can't offer it.

Sadly, the best feature of this app has been removed... Previously, this app was very intuitive as it worked similar to a credit card and in case the amount of money in the app was too little, you could deposit the missing amount quickly. Now, you need to wait until the requested amount has been transferred to TWINT AG before you can use it. Why use this app then, might as well use a credit card or PayPal. Will wait until I used up the amount left and then deinstall. :(
