About this app

SmartBrain is a training application that was developed as part of scientific studies at the University of Basel and tested for its effectiveness. SmartBrain trains different aspects of your working memory using three interesting tasks. An auditory and visual working memory task as well as a spatial working memory task can be selected. Selecting and adjusting the duration of the tasks allows for targeted training that is tailored to your needs. In addition, the tasks continuously adapt to your performance, which allows training at your individual level of performance.

If you take part in a study, you will receive a study code to log into SmartBrain. The further procedure, for example how often and for how long the training should be completed, will be communicated to you as part of the study.

If you want to use the training without taking part in a study, you can leave the field for entering the study code empty and set the desired tasks and duration of implementation.

SmartBrain requires access to the Internet because training progress data is continuously transmitted to a server. If you take part in a study, these training processes will be evaluated at a later date. You can find more information about data protection in the data protection declaration. What’s new

We have further developed the SmartBrain app and implemented the following new features:
- The app can now also be used without participating in our study
- The languages German, English and Dutch are available
- You can choose the length of the individual training tasks yourself
- Any number of training sessions can be started per day
