e-CNY App is the official service platform for e-CNY individual services, jointly developed by authorized operators. It integrates individual e-CNY wallet services of authorized operators, enabling users to open wallets, exchange and use e-CNY, as well as manage and check e-CNY assets.

I have had this app on my phone for weeks now and when I try to register I am not getting the SMS code. I have tried every solution there is. I think you need a Visa to China before you can register for this app outside the country.

Inside China, you cannot access Google Play Store. Outside China, you cannot install to test its functionality and get a hang of the apps before actual usage in mainland

Unfortunately, you have to be in China to open the account. Other than this a very good alternative to wechat and alipay.
