Speaking Clock is a lightweight app that announces the current time when you unlock your phone. It's particularly useful when you're unable to look at your phone.

indeed I have been looking for an App that can tell me the time at will. I have downloaded so many they couldn't give me what I wanted, just this morning I downloaded this App and it works perfectly, telling the time at will. This App is awesome and works excellently

It does exactly what it claims to do, is free to use & without ads, so it would be churlish of me to rate it anything less than the maximum 5 stars. I do wish, however, there are more options; such as to speak in 24hr format instead of am/pm, and perhaps to set auto enable/disable periods.

It's a very nice app, I don't understand though why when I go to use the software volume control button, the app crashes every single time 🤷‍♀️ it would be nice to be able to use the software button for the Android tablet this is on instead of always reaching for the volume button on the device. I can understand if the app is new and being developed, it would help to have this issue fixed
