About this app

Pharoah Mail is a private email client for people who need their mail to stay theirs. It works with any standard IMAP and SMTP mailbox and adds OpenPGP signing and encryption on the handset, so the provider only ever carries what you chose to send in the clear.

WHAT IT DOES
- Reads and sends mail through your own IMAP/SMTP account. No Pharoah account, no relay, no copy of your mail on our servers.
- Generates an OpenPGP key on the handset and keeps it there. Share your public key; the private half never leaves the device.
- Per-message choice: send normally, sign only, or encrypt when you hold the recipient's key.
- Every message shows plainly whether it arrived encrypted, signed, or in the clear.
- Keys and contacts screen for importing and verifying other people's public keys by fingerprint.

BUILT FOR PRIVACY
- App lock: protect your private key with a PIN so a stolen handset cannot open your mail.
- Block screenshots and hide the app from the recents thumbnail.
- Quiet notifications: a count only. Subjects and senders are never placed in a notification.
- Background checking can be turned off entirely so the app only talks to your provider while it is open.

HONEST LIMITS
- Encryption only works end to end when both sides use OpenPGP. Messages to people without a key travel as ordinary email, and the app tells you so.
- Pharoah Mail does not provide a mailbox. You bring your own IMAP account from any provider.

Pharoah Mail is the Pharoah Technology edition of the GhostMail client and shares its engine. It contains no advertising, no analytics and no trackers.
