About this app

If you’re studying for a career in sheep shearing, then transport yourself to a shearing shed with the Shearing Training app.

The Shearing Training App offers you a virtual reality experience where you’ll learn how to:
• shear a sheep safely and correctly
• manage shed safety
• do different grinding techniques
• take care of your gear
• look after your own health.

The app’s 14 videos and associated information is designed to be used by students alongside face-to-face training from a registered training provider, specialising in sheep shearing training delivered by qualified shearer teachers.

The information in this app is for general knowledge only. This app was created in 2020 in consultation with the Shearing Contractors Association Australia (SCAA), Rural Skills Industry Training (RIST) and technology enterprise, Start Beyond. The project was co-ordinated by South West TAFE and funded by the Victorian Government.
