About this game

Botem Garden is a matching puzzle without a single swap in it. The specimens sit under glass, and the only thing you can do is turn them. Tap any point where four fruit meet and those four rotate around it together.

That one change alters everything you know about a match three board. A swap moves two fruit and only ever helps in one place. A turn moves four fruit at once, so it can build a line in a spot no swap could reach, and it can just as easily take apart a line you had already lined up on the other side of the same square. Reading two steps ahead stops being optional.

Three or more of the same specimen in a row or a column settle out of the glass. Everything above drops into the gap and fresh fruit rolls in from the top, so a single well chosen turn often keeps paying for several cascades.

Turning right is the default and there is a button under the board for turning left. Both cost the same. The direction matters more than it sounds, because the fruit you want is often one quarter turn away in the wrong direction, which is three turns instead of one.

A turn that settles nothing still spends a turn, so this is not a game you can brute force. Look at the four corners before you tap.

Twenty plots make the glasshouse. Each one asks for a number of two or three particular specimens, from physalis and tamarillo to jaboticaba, salak and cupuacu, and the later plots bring a sixth specimen in to thin out the board.

The herbarium presses a page for your first plot, your deepest cascade, your first left hand turn and your five hundredth turn of the glass. A society board keeps your best plot score next to the other members. All progress lives on this device, and one button in the settings clears it.

No purchases, no adverts, no timers. Portrait, one hand, fully offline.
Rotate four exotic fruit at a time to settle three in a line under the glass.
