Our Blue Planet
Dive into the oceans and discover what they were, are, and can be!
From our local coastlines to the endless expanse of the high seas, from the icy polar regions to the tropics teeming with coral, mangroves, and sharks, from the tidal flats to the deepest darkness of the deep sea.
No matter how far you live from the coast, our app is the shortest route to the ocean!
Embark on a grand voyage and navigate through the seas. Travel into the past and the future and encounter giant whales, cheeky crabs, and bioluminescent octopuses. And whenever you want to know more, you'll get an answer and much, much more with just one click!
Learn what the oceans were once like (paradise and teeming with life), what they are like today (overfished and full of noise and plastic waste), and how vibrant they can be again tomorrow if we all take action. Our app offers plenty of tips on what you can do! Team up with your friends – it's so much more fun together!
Test your knowledge with quizzes and watch videos of deep-sea anglerfish dancing. You'll hear a gurnard (a type of fish) growl and dive into the "mind movie" together. We'll show you how to fish for ice cubes with salt and the best way to observe whales. And most importantly, you'll get tons of ideas on how to become an ocean conservationist. Whoever explores everything will be ceremoniously awarded a certificate and named a "Doctor Fish"!
What's special about our app is that the questions were written by the children on our team, not the adults. Our marine conservation organization, DEEPWAVE, employs marine biologists, divers, and deep-sea researchers who are incredibly knowledgeable about the oceans. But we had to do a lot of research to answer all the questions. We stumbled upon the strangest things and discovered all sorts of fascinating connections we didn't even know existed. You can find all the answers in the app now.
This game is based on our ocean primer, "Our Blue Planet - Yesterday, Today, Tomorrow," a booklet you can slip into your bag when you embark on an adventure to the seas. Whether you're on the beach, in a hammock, or on the sofa. And maybe you'll even be inspired to actually go to the sea: the North and Baltic Seas aren't as far away as you think. And there are even whales there! Which ones? Check out the app!
