About this app

The "AR Virtual Cells" App uses augmented reality to create an interactive and educational experience in the study of eukaryotic (animal and plant) and prokaryotic cells, promoting learning in an engaging and stimulating way.

The main objective of the project is to allow users, through their mobile devices, to view and interact with a three-dimensional representation of cells, together with their respective components, through the combination of the cell phone's camera and a specially prepared table that contains a two-dimensional version of the cell in question.

To use it, the user must point the cell phone camera at the cell image and thus see the cell in 3D format. The user can also see information and curiosities about their organelles and rotate the cell by touching the device screen.

The project is an initiative developed by the EIC (Iterative Science Space) organization at the University of São Paulo (USP). It is an integral part of the research, innovation and knowledge dissemination project called “Center for Research and Innovation in Biodiversity and Pharmaceuticals” (CIBFar ), one of the CEPIDs projects, supported by FAPESP.
