Solid State 3D helps you to visualize all types of cubic unit cells, 2D and 3D packing and different types of voids in 3D. This app contains three types of unit cells, five types of packing and two types of voids.


This app covers the following topics:

1. Types of Unit Cell:
- Primitive/Simple cubic unit cell.
- Body-centred/body centered cubic unit cell or bcc.
- Face-centred/face centered cubic unit cell or fcc.

2. Types of Packing:
- Packing in one dimension.
- Packing in two dimension.
- Packing in three dimension.

3. Types of Voids:
- Tetrahedral void.
- Octahedral void.

You can also imagine its crystal lattice by visualizing all the unit cells.


Purpose of making this app:
- Unit cells, packing and voids are actually 3D is shape and we study it in 2D in chemistry books. So, it becomes harder to visualize and understand it in 2D. This app helps the students of chemistry to visualize it in 3D as such they can understand it better.

Ratings and reviews

Although the app is very good but I think that some more things should be integrated into this like defeacts and some other packing. And some calculation should be integrated so that students could understand the concept clearly. Overall the app is very interesting 😊😊😊😊.........

Really nice visualization tool for cubic unit cells and void space. It falls down hard on the close packing topic. It shows a primitive or simple cubic as close packed. I want to suggest this tool for my students but I'm not sure if it is worth the confusion that may follow. If you would change it to an ABAB vs ABC close packing, it would be amazing.

Great app. My head was hurting rendering tetrahedral voids, I even stopped studying due to this. Finally, found this app on Google search and oh boy, it's beautiful! Seriously, it's like a blessing and really helps learn solid state easily. Great job devlopers.
