So it's been a while, I've begun playing the game again, and it hasn't changed at all. There are still a ton of microtransactions and a ton of arbitrary rules about what items you can use. To visit a fishing location you have to pay a travel price, which is nearly impossible to break even on because each fish you catch gives you such a tiny reward. It feels more like financial survival simulator. The game itself is good, but it's nearly impossible to have fun because you're running out of money.

I really love this game, very realistic, beautiful graphics, good performance, no crashes. Reading the text descriptions in the shops is challenging, but I stream the video on our 65" TV, and that helps. Pop-up messages disappear kinda fast for me, line when casting or trying to hook a strike. I caught 20 spotted bass last night after I figured out the rod and reel symbols in the shop. I had to research online, the wiki is super helpful, and there's lots of related info elsewhere online.

I would rate this mobile game 5/5 if it worked all the time, but occasionally the server is not working at all. Usually back up in a few minutes to a couple hours. Otherwise I would consider this easily the best fishing mobile game available. Intuitive controls, beautiful maps and fish, and plenty of missions, challenges, and events to keep you uncaring of long wait times in life.
