if the early outdoor temperature is 75F and you charge the system to a “beer can cold” suction line your system is likely improperly charged. Later in the afternoon high temperatures will increase head pressure and the resulting overcharge means a lower than desired superheat and wasted energy. Not good!
Use HVAC Buddy to enter refrigerant, temperatures, and pressures. The math is done for you to display Superheat or SubcoolingTarget, Actual, and Difference. Use temperature and pressure sliders to see what happens in realtime when these values change. HVAC Buddy contains generic charts for target Superheat and Subcool as well as pressure-temperature tables for 71 Refrigerants. Temperature data for your pressure is displayed on the refrigerant row and changes can easily be viewed by moving the pressure slider. Add or recover refrigerant to get the Actual value to within the displayed target Superheat or Subcool range.

This app does NOT have a traditional PT Chart display. However, you can view temperatures in the upper left hand corner given any vapor line pressure (Superheat tab) or Liquid leaving pressure (Subcooling tab).

1. Duct Sizer: This module allows you to quickly size one HVAC duct run or a range of duct sizes for a wide variety of duct materials and shapes.
2. PT Chart: This module is an electronic pressure-temperature (PT) look-up chart that allows you to specify the exact refrigerant temperature/pressure and view the corresponding pressure/temperature value. HVAC Buddy Load Calc allows you to enter all the construction characteristics relating to heat gains and losses for the purpose of calculating the total building loads for heating and cooling. This app simplifies the process of collecting and recording information for presentation in a meaningful context. For this or any app of this nature you must be familiar with and have knowledge of construction materials and measuring skills to do a load calculation. In other words, the data entered must be good and accurate for meaningful results.
Comes with a "Default" project containing all the construction types. Whenever new loads are created they may be copied from the Default project or any other load within the project. Create new Projects by copying from the Default project or create your own template projects to improve efficiency. Project may be filtered by staus - New, Template, Scheduled, or Complete.
Comes with one Example Project in three stages. The first stage "Ex 1 Block" is a simple block load analysis with inefficent ducting. The second stage "Ex 1 Block w/Improved Ducts" shows the improved lower loads resulting from improvements in duct sealing as well as moving to R8 material in the ducts. The third stage "Ex 1 Block w/Rooms" is the same house with room by room loads.

The unit converter is especially aimed at the refrigeration branch and includes the most used units and quantities. The conversion works two ways, which means that you can either enter the value to be converted or the intended result. The line calculation calculates flow values in either liquid or gas lines for various refrigerants and the result is displayed as velocity, volume flow and mass flow.
How to use
Select the quantity type, e.g. Velocity, Length etc. that you want units to be converted between.
Select the source or original unit, e.g. m. Then select the target unit, e.g. in.
Now enter the source value, e.g. 15 (m) and the target unit 590.6 (in) is displayed immediately.
If you change the target value, the source value will instantly change.
Select the line type, liquid or gas, and then select type of refrigerant.
Select the pipe dimension.
Enter the pipe length, the cooling capacity, inlet pressure (the pressure at the beginning of the pipe in question), and the temperature (at the beginning of the pipe in question).
Click Calculate and you will see the results.

The first part of this application provides a calculator to check the GWP of the refrigerant you use and determine the Tonne CO2 equivalent for the refrigerant charge in the system. These are two essential criteria for the F-Gas regulation.
The other part of the module ‘Climalife Approved F-Gas Solutions’, allows you to stay informed about refrigerants on the market for both new and existing equipment and the solutions we advocate under the F-Gas regulation.
