About this app

There is more to ancient biblical literature than the books most readers know. Lost Books of the Bible brings together apocrypha, early Christian writings and other historical religious texts, with human audio recordings and an illustrated journey into the worlds around them.

Begin with the Book of Enoch, explore Jubilees and Jasher, or spend time with the Gospel of Thomas, the Gospel of Mary and the First Book of Adam and Eve. Follow a longer story or return to a passage that leaves you thinking. The library contains 79 text editions in English, including separately identified biblical companions, ready to read offline.

AN ANCIENT LIBRARY, AT YOUR PACE
Make room for a few quiet pages or a deeper reading session. Adjust the type, size and spacing, choose a light or dark appearance, and use reading focus when you want fewer distractions. Highlight a passage, add a note and keep related discoveries together in your own collections. Your saved place makes it easy to return.

HUMAN VOICES FOR THE WRITTEN WORD
Choose from a library of human-narrated recordings. Chapters continue in order, with playback speed and sleep-timer options for your listening time. Audio streams online; the written books and historical illustrations are stored in the app. Recordings and translations can use different chapter groupings, and availability can change. Partly available collections are clearly identified.

SEE A WIDER WORLD
The books are the starting point. Beyond the reading room, an illustrated history atlas lets you move through time and discover what was happening in different regions during the same period. Compare stories side by side, follow a regional landscape, or watch selected civilizations change through successive illustrated phases.

Explore Mesopotamia, Egypt, the Americas, Africa, Asia and other settings through original historical summaries. Read across regions while keeping the same year in view, then save a story beside the books and passages it brings to mind. Historical guides for Enoch, Mary and Thomas connect manuscript history with the atlas.

KEEP THE THREAD OF YOUR EXPLORATION
My Space brings your reading, listening and historical journeys back together. Pick up a book, return to an audio part or revisit a world you were exploring. Export a backup of your notes, collections and progress when you want to keep a separate copy.

Biblical canons differ across traditions. These writings are presented for reading and exploration, without suggesting they were all removed from one Bible. Some texts survive only in fragments. Atlas dates and reconstructed scenes are interpretive where indicated, and historical summaries are separate from the ancient texts.

Offline reading. Online human narration. Ancient books with a wider world to explore. Forgotten Bible Books.
Read beyond the familiar Bible, with human audio and illustrated world history

The Good: This app has a lot of books in one place which I'm very pleased with. I love how these are audio books so that I can learn on the go. (Some of the dramatizations are a bit overdone but it's not too bad in my opinion) The Bad: Ads. I will say the only time I encounter them is when switching books, but I wish there was an option to rid them. Also no way to remember my place if I close the app. Overall if you're looking for audio versions of the lost books, decent app.

Haven't finished yet, really just started. But it's not looking like I'll go further, because there is no playback speed selection. I listen and retain better at much faster spoken dialog speeds. Especially those faster than that speed which puts most people to sleep in the first three minutes. Please update the app with a playback speed selection. I'll be able to continue with this app then. Thanks.

A huge effort to make this app, so i'm thankful for it. However, the piano music is a bit too loud and distracts from the narrators voice, which is hard enough to understand with the thick regional accent without the music. It is a shame as this app is very good with silly things spoiling it. i recommed either removing the music altogether or at least turn it down. Also please get someone with a neutral English accent, as the one used is unintelligible to anyone outside alabama.
