Akiko (from the Swahili Akiba – savings – and Kopa – credit) is an application that allows users to record and monitor the main activities of savings and loans groups (contributions, loans, reimbursements, etc.).
It includes features that make recording and monitoring easier (member status screens, fund balances across different cash boxes, etc.), as well as the ability to export information in editable formats (Excel). It is compatible with savings groups that use cycles (Village Savings and Loan Associations – VSLA model) and those that do not.
Akiko is an Android application that works in stand‑alone mode, meaning that it can operate autonomously on the device without requiring an internet connection or real‑time linkage to an external server. This multilingual application is currently available in English, French, Arabic, and Spanish, with the possibility of adding new languages upon request.
Akiko has been developed by the IFRC Livelihoods Centre (hosted by the Spanish Red Cross), in collaboration with and co‑funding from the British Red Cross, with the aim of providing you with a more comfortable and practical experience in managing your savings and loans group.
